Abstract:

As supervisors, you are tasked with helping trainees learn how to conduct therapy while also building a variety of professional development skills. Self-care is essential in helping professionals proactively address burnout. Join us for a seminar designed to help you as a supervisor learn to center trainee well-being throughout the supervision relationship, while also adhering to ethical models of supervision. Models of supervision from two different theoretical perspectives will be discussed: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). You will leave this workshop with new perspectives and tools to help your trainees thrive. The instructors have a combined 30 years of supervision experience.

Objectives:

  1. Recognize symptoms of and risk factors for burnout in trainees across diverse groups.
  2. Compare and contrast the EFT and ACT Models of supervision presented.
  3. Develop one goal related to centering trainee well-being within your own supervisory relationship(s) that is guided by the models presented and ethical standards.
