VitalCog for Athletic Organizations

VitalCog for Athletics is an interactive course that helps athletic staff understand their role in suicide prevention within sport. You'll learn to build proactive factors and safety nets for athletes, identify risk factors and warning signs, and practice conversations around suicide. VitalCog certification is good for 2 years.

Virtual or In-Person: Courses can be provided via a virtual platform (Zoom) or in-person (additional fees may apply). Each course is 120 minutes (2 hours) in duration.

Course Participants: 5 to 30 participants per course, and all attendees must be 18+ years. Appropriate for coaches, administrators, S & C and AAS staff, and sports medicine professionals within athletic spaces.

Continuing Education Credits: BOC-approved CEUs available for athletic trainers, and NSCA continuing education credits available for strength & conditioning coaches.

Pricing: $750 per course (FREE courses available for individuals and organizations in North Dakota through June 30, 2025 thanks to funding from the State of North Dakota)


QPR for Sport Organizations


Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. It empowers individuals to effectively intervene on behalf of suicidal or in-crisis people. It is the most widely taught Gatekeeper Training in the world. QPR certification is valid for 2 years. We tailor each course to the needs of the requesting entity.

Virtual or In-Person: Courses can be provided via a virtual platform (Zoom) or in-person (additional fees may apply).

Course Length: 60 to 150 minutes

QPR courses can be taught as standalone QPR certification courses (60 minutes) or with additional information pertaining to mental health for athletes and those working within the sport ecosystem (additional 60 or 90 minutes).

  • Additional course content is tailored to coach, athletic department, or athletic training audiences. This may include additional content about suicide in athletic populations, general athlete mental health, well-being of coaches, and more.
  • Additional mental health content can be viewed as part of live instruction or on-demand (recorded) via our course portal.

Continuing Education Credits: BOC-approved CEUs available for athletic trainers.

Course Size: we provide instruction for up to 35 participants per course.

MHFA for Sport Organizations

MHFA is a program that works by teaching participants skills necessary to respond with care and genuine support to an individual experiencing a mental health or substance use concern or crisis. Mental health problems are common, and with the right help, wellness and recovery are possible. MHFA certification is valid for 3 years.

Course Types: We offer MHFA focused on adult and youth populations. Specialized content for Higher Education and Indigenous populations available (in-person courses only).

Course Participants: up to 30 participants per course, and all attendees must be 18+ years. Appropriate for coaches, administrators, S & C and AAS staff, sports medicine professionals, parents, and adult athletes.

Virtual or In-Person: Courses can be provided via a virtual platform (MHFA Connect & Zoom) or in-person (additional fees may apply).

Course Durations:

  • Virtual Adult MHFA: 2 hours of self-directed pre-work + 7 hours of instructor-led training via Zoom (can be held over 1 or 2 days)
  • In-Person Adult MHFA: 8 hours of instructor-led training (can be held over 1 or 2 days)
  • Virtual Youth MHFA: 2 hours of self-directed pre-work + 5 hours of instructor-led training via Zoom (can be held over 1 or 2 days)
  • In-Person Youth MHFA: 7 hours of instructor-led training (can be held over 1 or 2 days)

Continuing Education Credits: BOC-approved CEUs available for athletic trainers.
