Abstract:

This is an intermediate level workshop that actively engages participants in exploring variables related to the application of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. The theory and science behind EFT is discussed to help attendees learn this model and identify whom can benefit from this therapeutic approach. Workshop attendees will enhance their learning by watching the instructors conduct demonstrations of EFT principles with volunteers. The content is developed to assist psychologists, counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists in providing this evidence-based modality of couples therapy.

This webinar counts as previous EFT course experience that is required for the Intermediate EFT for Couples CE/CEU course.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the theory and science behind EFT for couples.
  2. Explain at least two (2) ways to provide culturally informed EFT for couples.
  3. Discuss and demonstrate the three (3) stages and nine (9) steps of EFT for couples.
  4. Utilize primary EFT tools to access, expand, and reprocess emotional experiences to strengthen attachment bonds between romantic partners.
